Purpose: This podcast examines the emotional and spiritual dynamics of anger. What emotionally and spiritually is going on in an angry person?
This lesson asserts that sinful anger is the result of the fall in the Garden. It's the result of either not having a relationship with the Creator, or not having faith in the faithfulness, goodness, and the sovereignty of God.
An angry person has no control over his world (this is true for all men) and desperately tries to gain control through violence, intimidation, and thinly disguised aggressiveness. The result is even more frustration, more loss of control, and more anger.
The only true solution is, by the grace of God, to apply the wisdom of God that is exemplified by the gospel to slow down our anger, so that though we might be angry, yet we would not sin (Ps. 4:4). Overcoming Anger is the fourth lesson in the Discipleship Level 2: Reaching Beyond Mediocrity.
