Section 3 · Lesson 24 of 32

Training with a Purpose

Training must look beyond a learner’s current progress to the ability and desire to train others. The pattern in 2 Timothy 2:2 passes teaching from Paul to Timothy to faithful people who can teach another generation.

Lesson goal: Shape immediate training to help disciples grow and become able to disciple others.

The author’s early ministry experience illustrates the gap between attending Christian activities and knowing how to nurture new believers. A whole-life vision helps teachers set appropriate short-term goals and prepare disciples for practical, multiplying service.

Key Teaching Points

  • Plan for learners to become trainers of others.
  • Connect present lessons with a multiplying discipleship vision.
  • Christian activity alone is not a complete growth plan.
  • Assess the learner’s stage and teach the next needed step.

Scripture to Consider

2 Timothy 2:2

For Reflection
