The Average Local Church

The average church is not seriously involved in discipling people. The church is like a big boulder unwilling to move.

A grave, RIP - Rest in PeaceMuch like a coffin, the only way to move it is to put wheels under it and take it to the cemetery.

If we are not growing, we are in the process of decay!

The Average Local Church

Many church buildings are being sold because the congregation has dwindled down to nothing. One church building in our city is now a brewery while another is a restaurant! We wish that the buildings would be torn down rather than become a reminder of our failures as God's people.

Churches are known to be slow. Either we have too many procedures or too many opinions! What we need is some urgency to care for the sheep of God. We need to finish the Great Commission in this generation.

The seven churches in Revelation 2-3 show us that the Lord, at times, does remove the glory of His presence from His so-called people.

"Remember therefore from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you, and will remove your lamp stand out of its place – unless you repent." (Revelation 2:5)

One of the reasons traditional churches are dying out is that they now lack the support of the Christian mindset in our societies and our families. In the past the church had others teaching the truth at home and even at school. This is absent now. Churches are rapidly deteriorating and dying.

Churches that are merely maintaining their own are not growing either. They are in the process of decay! We need to face the great need for God's people to have a greater flow of His grace in their lives.

So how can we become better functioning churches?     Next
