The Life Core · Section 1

2. Perspective Counts

The perspective we adopt shapes how we interpret our problems, choose our goals, and train God’s people.

Paul J. Bucknell

The same situation can look entirely different when viewed from another position. A biblical perspective gives us a reliable framework for understanding life, growth, the church, and ministry. When our assumptions are borrowed from the surrounding culture, even sincere efforts can move in the wrong direction.

Christian training often inherits worldly definitions of knowledge, achievement, and leadership. Information is valued, while transformed character and dependence on the Spirit receive less attention. The result is activity without deep spiritual growth.

Recovering God’s perspective requires humility. We allow Scripture to correct our assumptions and then redesign our training around the Lord’s purposes. The question is not simply whether people know more, but whether God’s truth is shaping how they live and serve.

Core Teaching

  • Perspective directs both our goals and our methods.
  • Unexamined cultural assumptions can weaken Christian training.
  • God’s Word must reshape how we understand growth and success.

Reflect and Apply

  1. Which assumptions most influence your view of Christian growth?
  2. Where has culture shaped your expectations more than Scripture?
  3. What would change if transformation became your primary training goal?
