What is more important in life? These will become the key testing points in the race ahead?

How well we do in the race depends on our commitment to win the race. But this general ambition is worked out in small steps of having the right priorities and keeping to them. The race is not seen so much in crossing the line but in the daily disciplines that we have set up. The crossing of the line celebrates the end to the rigorous disciplines. More will be said of disciplines later, but right now we just need to mention the tension that develops in life is dependent upon ones commitment to those priorities. If we are only somewhat committed to those priorities, then at some point, our commitment will wane away, and we will end up falling from those priorities. At any point we break our sense of priorities, our lives will be shaken by a new set of priorities. This is where failure comes in – when we neglect what we ought. This is the importance of convictions and a regular renewal of these convictions from God's Word.
Our priorities will be tested. Our goal is to make our commitment so true that our lives can take all sorts of attempted intrusions into the fabric of our lives. |
