Lesson Summary
Mercy and grace overlap but emphasize different aspects of God’s goodness. Mercy emphasizes God withholding deserved judgment; grace emphasizes His giving undeserved favor. The cross demonstrates that mercy does not mean ignoring sin. God satisfies justice while extending forgiveness and grace through Christ. Those who live by God’s mercy should increasingly become merciful people themselves.
