Signs of New Life
Spiritual life is unseen in its source but becomes recognizable through its effects. The chapter draws on Jesus’ images of wind and flowing water to describe the Spirit’s powerful and purposeful work. It then identifies ordinary signs such as a desire for Scripture, prayer, fellowship, forgiveness, and care for others.
Lesson goal: Recognize the desires and conduct through which the Holy Spirit’s new life expresses itself.

These signs are expressions of new life rather than a claim to flawless performance. They gradually shape thinking and behavior, although continuing sin and drifting from God can suppress their expression. The assignments encourage honest reflection and thankful prayer about the desires present in one’s own life.
