Section 2 · Lesson 15 of 32

The Child–Stage #1

Every new believer begins spiritual life as a child, whatever the person’s physical age. Like an infant, the new Christian needs personal attention and foundational nourishment rather than expectations of immediate independence.

Lesson goal: Recognize a new believer’s need for personal nurture, God’s Word, and patient spiritual care.

The chapter combines teaching God’s Word with love, care, and relationship. Mature believers help new Christians experience God’s love through patient nurture, laying a foundation for later growth and service.

Key Teaching Points

  • Spiritual new birth begins the first growth stage at any physical age.
  • New believers need personal care as well as foundational instruction.
  • God’s Word nourishes growth as milk nourishes an infant.
  • Patient disciple makers help communicate God’s love and care.

Scripture to Consider

1 Peter 2:2

For Reflection

  1. Recall the care you received when you first believed. Which forms of nurture helped, or were missing?
  2. Identify a new believer you can support. Plan personal contact and a simple way to study God’s Word together.

Reflection prompts help you apply the lesson; they are not graded quiz questions.
