  3. Resembling Our Father

Lesson Goal

Knowing and Resembling Our Father

Know God as our Father, respond to Him with obedience, trust, love, and respect, and reflect His fatherly character in our relationships.

View Goal

Virtues: Obedience, trust, love, respect

Teachings: God the Father, Christ’s Sonship, worship

Skills: Mission, fatherhood

The Father–Son relationship joins authority and love. Our growth depends on learning to receive the Father’s care, direction, and oversight rather than treating independence as the goal.

Jesus shows us how a Son responds to the Father: with respect, trust, and complete obedience, even when the path is difficult or not fully understood. His relationship with the Father becomes the model for our own.

This heavenly pattern also reshapes earthly relationships. Children learn respect and obedience, while parents—especially fathers—are called to blend loving authority with compassionate care so that their lives give a clearer picture of God.
