15. The Child—Stage 1

New believers possess real spiritual life but need protection, nourishment, belonging, and clear foundations.

The child stage celebrates beginnings. New believers are learning who God is, what He has done, how to trust His Word, and how to live within His family. Their dependence is not a defect; it is appropriate to their stage.

They need patient relationships, simple and reliable teaching, examples of obedience, and help establishing basic practices such as prayer, Scripture, fellowship, and repentance.

Churches weaken new life when they either neglect beginners or overwhelm them with material intended for mature believers. Loving care supplies what is needed now while keeping future growth in view.
