View Goal

Virtues: Loyalty, commitment, respect, faithfulness

Teachings: Marriage; the oneness of Christ and the church

Skills: Covenant commitment, resolving tensions, loving service

The Husband–Wife relationship displays covenant commitment. Marriage joins two people in a permanent bond from which trust and intimacy are meant to grow.

The relationship of Christ and the church gives marriage its deeper pattern: sacrificial love, loyal response, faithfulness, and commitment that does not disappear when circumstances become difficult.

These truths call husbands and wives to practical love, respect, service, and faithfulness. They also teach every believer that covenant relationships require perseverance rather than convenience.
