Renewing Our Minds: Romans 12:2

Renewing Our Minds: Romans 12:2

How can we cope with these thoughts which tempt us into worry?

The mind is the gateway to our heart. Whoever possesses it, possesses our heart
The transformation of our lives comes from the renewing of our minds. Our minds are the place that we evaluate those thoughts entering our systems. Listen to the scriptures,

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2).

We should reject any meditative therapy that tells us to 'stop' thinking, whether it be some TM hum, yoga stretch or medication. They dull the mind. Remember God's gift to us is our ability to objectively think.

The mind is the gateway to our heart. Whoever possesses it, possesses our heart.

Overcome Anxiety: Finding Peace, Discovering God - a bookMany therapies try to distract a person from his worries. This helps to some degree because a person will no longer worry about their worries! They all try to manage the worries rather than solve them.

The Lord is interested in healing us.
He knows our real problem is deeper. He wants us to see the power of His Word and His care for us. As we begin to see His power to help us, we then can testify to His greatness.

We must realize that unless our lives are transformed, they are contaminated by the world. This transformation comes clearly by the "renewing of your mind."

The solution then is to retrain the way we approach worrisome thoughts arising from our difficult situations. When anxious thoughts arise, we should at that point take that as a warning and deal with them before they take control over our heart. Once they have penetrated our hearts, it is so much more difficult to regain control of our minds.

Let's see how this renewing of the mind actually works. Next page.
