Purpose

Old Testament (OT) Bible Book Order and Charts describe and graphically present the Old Testament (OT) Bible book order. Click here to see the OT chronological book order.

There is a big difference between the order of the English OT Bible and the Hebrew Bible. The order of the English OT is given below, but there is also a chronological chart that is much more extensive and explanatory. Both of the diagrams below follow the three-fold classification of the Hebrew scriptures now being used.

Originally, there was a two-fold classification. The two-fold classification was simply the Law and the Prophets (Mt 5:17; Mk 11:13; Lk 24:27).

Though the contents are the same, the Hebrew scriptures were organized differently. Both classifications were used in the New Testament when refering to the Old Testament scriptures. (Click for larger chart).
